Busjet Falcon 7X was created from scratch and designers definitely tried to take into account their own experience in pursuit planes construction and created wide-range airplane with transonic speed and good take-off and landing characteristics. It was the first aircraft of this type with Fly-by-Wire system and sidestick controllers. All the needed information was shown on the four Enhanced Avionics System (or EASy) displays.

The aircraft design was created with paperless technology called CATIA which is Dassault design software. CATIA is still a foundation of Dassault software suite.

Returning to the Falcon 7X design it should be mentioned that for the first time from 1970s Dassault developed for Falcon wing with great aspect ratio optimized for the transonic flights but capable of landing on 193 km/h speed. With that, the landing run with reverse jet on is only 670 m.
Dassault announced its new business jet on the Paris air show in 2001, and in 2002 the project received the designation falcon 7X. The first working aircraft conducted its first flight on May 5, 2005. And in a month the company rolled the airplane out on Paris air show.

The test period revealed the need to make winglets to extend aircraft range. The winglets variant achieved the Certificate of Airworthiness in the early 2007, allowing Falcon 7X to compete not only with Global 5000 and G450 but also with Global Express XRS and G550.

On September 26, 2006 the Falcon 7X programme received a powerful push forward - NetJets Europe ordered 24 airplanes on 1,1 billion dollars. In April 2007 the plane was certified by FAA and EASA and on June 14, 2007 the customer received its first jet.

The first production plane was assembled at Dassault plant in Little Rock, Arkansas and in 2007 the vehicle made nonstop flight to Paris on the Air Show. To the time of certification the company had orders for 165 aircraft. And on May 8, 2009 the “oldest” Falcon 7X achieved 1000 flying hours.
Dassault continues to expand the production of Falcon 7X and in 2010 the first delivery to Asian customers was fulfilled.
